The Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio recommends that any time you are considering hiring a Professional Surveyor; you confirm that the individual is licensed to practice the Profession of Surveying in the State of Ohio.  You may do so by visiting the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors at www.peps.ohio.gov and selecting the “License Lookup” tab at the top of the page.

Ohio Valley Chapter donates to Historic Fort Steuben

Funds for a reproduction surveyor’s compass and chain were donated to Historic Fort Steuben in Steubenville by the PLSO Ohio Valley Chapter in celebration of National Surveyor’s week March 18-24, 2012. The tools will be part of a new program initiated by the Fort: Von Steuben’s Treasure Chest of History. (more…)

Recent State Board actions

The Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors accepted settlement agreements at its meeting in March 2012 from Jason Kabbara, PE; Frederick Hargrove, PE; James Geeslin, PS; Lynn Congos, PE; Browne & Associates Inc.; and Paul Boeshart, PS. Read the press release.

PLSO offers scholarships

The PLSO and its chapters offer scholarship opportunities to students in Ohio seeking careers in surveying. Visit the Education tab for more information. The PLSO’s scholarship application deadline is May 1, 2012. Enter the PLSO gun raffle to support the scholarship fund.

Governor signs HB 32

House Bill 32 was signed by Gov. John Kasich Feb. 21, 2012. The signed bill did include the amendment that was secured by PLSO.

New position added to job postings

PLSO members now can check the members-only section for job postings. The first job for a licensed professional surveyor was posted Feb. 22, 2012. Click the “Advertise with PLSO” button on the home page for more information about posting a job.
