The Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio recommends that any time you are considering hiring a Professional Surveyor; you confirm that the individual is licensed to practice the Profession of Surveying in the State of Ohio.  You may do so by visiting the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors at www.peps.ohio.gov and selecting the “License Lookup” tab at the top of the page.

Historic Marker Dedicated

The Northwest Ohio and Toledo Chapters of PLSO participated in the dedication of an Ohio Historic Marker on Saturday, March 21 at the Ohio-Michigan state line.  Led by the efforts of PLSO Member Joe Fenicle, PS, the marker commemorates the 1815 survey of the Michigan Meridian and the 1915 Ohio-Michigan state line survey.  Thanks to all who attended!  Look for more on this recognition of these important surveys in the Spring issue of Ohio Surveying News.

STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS PASSES IN OHIO

PLSO is proud to announce that Ohio now has a clearly defined Statute of Limitations for claims of professional negligence against Professional Surveyors!  Through significant efforts of PLSO’s legislative advocates, Legislative Committee and officers, the organization was able to successfully insert the language into House Bill 483 – one of the bills dealing with mid-biennium budget issues recently considered by the Ohio legislature.  PLSO and the Legislative Committee wish to thank the members of the Southwestern and Cincinnati Chapters, Gary Nichols and Rose Coors, Thomas Schuck, Esq.,  Representative Louis Blessing III and especially Senator Bill Seitz for their efforts on this issue on behalf of PLSO and Ohio’s surveyors.

Members – for more information log in to the Member’s Only page and click on the Legislative Interests link.
