Right of Way Designer

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Right of Way (ROW) Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering design, land surveying, and right-of-way acquisition processes. This role involves the preparation of accurate and comprehensive ROW plans, legal descriptions, and other related documents for various infrastructure projects, including highways, railways, and utilities.
Responsibilities:
• Plan Development: Develop detailed ROW plans using CAD software (e.g., Bentley Open Roads Designer) to accurately depict the proposed ROW limits and impacts on existing property lines.
• Legal Descriptions: Prepare precise legal descriptions of land parcels to be acquired or affected by the project, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Data Analysis: Analyze survey data, topographic maps, and other relevant information to determine property ownership, easements, and potential encroachments.
• Coordination: Collaborate with project engineers, land surveyors, and legal professionals to ensure the accurate and timely completion of ROW documents.
• Compliance: Stay up to date with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to ROW acquisition and design.
• Field Verification: Conduct field inspections to verify property boundaries, existing conditions, and potential impacts.
• Document Control: Maintain organized and accurate records of ROW plans, legal descriptions, and other project documents.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in ROW design, preferably in the transportation or utility industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Bentley Open Roads Designer and other relevant design tools.
• Experience with Ohio Department of Transportation Right of Way plans and preparation
• Strong understanding of land surveying principles and practices.
• Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Transportation Right of Way Manual
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently 1 and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Qualified as a Right of Way Designer with the Ohio Department of Transportation
• Professional Survey (PS), Professional Engineer (PE), Survey Intern (SI), or Engineer Intern (EI) a plus but not required If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for detail and a commitment to excellence, we encourage you to apply.
